How to download a video by URL

    Open the Download tab in aTube Catcher after launching the app.

    Copy the video URL from your browser address bar on YouTube, Vimeo, Facebook, or another supported site.
  3. 3
    Paste the URL into the input field and press the download button.
  4. 4
    Select quality and format from the list (for example 1280×720 MP4 or audio-only MP3).
  5. 5
    Press Download again to add the item to the queue. Watch the progress bar in the lower panel.
  6. 6
    Open your output folder when the job completes. Files are ready for VLC or any media player.

Convert video formats

    Open the Video Converter section from the main menu.
  2. 2
    Add the source file you downloaded or any local video.
  3. 3
    Choose output format: MP4, AVI, 3GP, WMV, FLV, or device presets such as PSP.

    Optional: set resolution, FPS, and audio codec before starting.
  5. 5
    Start conversion and wait for the progress indicator to finish.

Use Stream Catcher mode

    Switch to Stream Catcher from the main toolbar.

    Navigate to the page that plays the stream in the built-in browser or paste the page URL.

    When media is detected, select the stream and confirm download.

    Choose whether to save video, audio, or both.

Record your screen

    Open the screen capture tool from the main interface.

    Select the monitor or window region to record.

    Set audio source (system, microphone, or both) if available.

    Click record, perform your tutorial, then stop and save to your projects folder.

Fix stuck downloads

  • Download stays at 0%: Check internet connection and confirm the video is still public on the host site.
  • Format list empty: Update to version 10.8.9. Site layout changes sometimes require a patch.
  • Error after update: Restart the app. Some users report stability issues right after updates; a reboot often clears cache locks.
  • Slow speed: Enable Turbo Downloads in settings if your build includes it, and pause other heavy bandwidth tasks.
Download one test clip before queuing an entire playlist.
Use MP4 for universal playback; use MP3 when you only need audio.
Store files on a drive with plenty of free space for 1080p batches.

Antivirus warnings explained

Security vendors sometimes classify download managers as potentially unwanted because older bundles included extra toolbars. Modern aTube Catcher builds focus on media tools, but heuristics may still flag the installer.

Audio preview not working

Some builds relied on Flash Player for in-app audio preview. Adobe discontinued Flash, so preview may fail on older interfaces.

  • Ensure you have the latest codec pack installed on your system.
  • Try switching the audio output device in Windows sound settings.
  • If the issue persists, convert the file and test in VLC Media Player.

Combine multiple videos

    Download each segment with matching resolution where possible.

    Open the video editor or join tool inside aTube Catcher.

    Add clips in playback order and export a single MP4 or AVI file.
